Investing in children in their earliest years provides benefits to all generations. Persuading policy makers to support early childhood investments, however, can pose a real challenge.
Older adult volunteers are a powerful and unlikely voice when it comes to advocating for children. We need YOUR help to give legislators credible information from trusted messengers.
Older Adults Can Put Quality Early Care and Education in ESEA
With the pending reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) underway, Seniors4Kids thinks it’s time to reflect in law what research has said for years. Quality early care and education:
- saves taxpayers money
- improves children’s cognitive, social, and emotional skills
- decreases the need for K-12 grade retention and special education services
- helps to close the achievement gap
Below, you will find the tools you need to tell Congress why it’s important to increase access to quality early education. Each of these activities only takes a few minutes of your time–but can make a real difference in the lives of children in your community.
