Yvonne Thompson-Friend serves as State Coordinator for Generations United's Pennsylvania Seniors4Kids.She is also the Project Coordinator for the Five & Fit Initiative at Temple University's Intergenerational Center.
Yvonne brings over 20 years experience in policy analysis, legislative research, and community organizing. She served as a Chief of Staff in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for many years. In positions with the Departments of Labor & Industry, Commerce and Transportation, Yvonne led a charge to make government more responsive, productive and accountable.
Previously, Thompson-Friend served as Executive Director of Childspace Cooperative Development, Inc,. a Philadelphia based non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of early education. The Ms. Foundation for Women recognized her leadership there with a Gloria Award. She continues her commitment to quality early education, in part, as President of the Childspace CDI Board.
Yvonne is the recipient of numerous other awards including: West Mt. Airy’s “40 Good Neighbors,” Black United Fund’s Outstanding Community Service Award, Latina Women’s Top Community Service Award, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Exemplary Community Servant Award.
Thompson-Friend, who received both her B.A. and M.P.A. from Pennsylvania State University, resides in the West Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her husband, Raymond and their son, Raymond Thompson Friend, III.
